House flipping — buying and renovating a house to sell for profit
— is currently the hottest trend spreading through the real estate
industry. A "flip" occurs when an individual purchases a home,
remodels the home in a short period of time (anywhere from 3 weeks
to 4 months) and then re-sells the home for a profit.
Flip That House is a new series for Discovery Home that dives
into this very craze. Each episode is a fun, fast half hour that
will document the entire flipping process of one house.

"Flip This House"
"Flip This House" originally focused on South Carolina real
estate company Trademark Properties and the fearless team that
invests in the most rundown houses and over the course of a few
weeks transforms them into gorgeous profitable properties.
They buy houses that are "fixer-uppers" and turns them into
attractive homes very quickly. This type of quick buy and sell is
referred to in the real estate business as "flipping a house", where
the show gets its name.
Filming for "Flip This House" started April 10,
2005 in Charleston. It's also being filmed in Greenville. Charleston
area houses that will be featured on "Flip This House" are located
on James Island, Folly Beach, West Ashley and Johns Island. The A&E
Network is seen in 88 million homes.
The show does a nice job of showing what is often involved in buying
and selling properties: inspections, getting owner to sell, permit
issues, etc.
If you are in the process of remodeling a rental
property or thinking about it, this show offers some good ideas.
The shows that feature the contractors are especially good as that
is one of the most difficult parts of the whole flipping process.
Now the show has a new team of real-estate
developers and they are working in Atlanta and San Antonio.
The show airs on A & E.
