Annual Spirituals Concert At Drayton Hall Plantation – One of America’s most enchantingly unique artistic experiences, the spirituals concert helps preserve the heritage of generations of African slaves whose music offered a sense of hope and dignity. Performed on Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 5th and 6th at historic Drayton Hall, the program features three candlelight concerts by vocalist Ann Caldwell and the Magnolia Singers ensemble. The forerunner of later Blues, Gospel and Jazz musical forms, the a capella renditions of plantation-era spirituals ring with vocal beauty and heartfelt passion. For ticket information, call 843-769-2605 or go online at www.draytonhall.org.

Charleston Christmas Parade – The 30th annual Christmas Parade rekindles one of Charleston’s most cherished occasions, as floats, marching bands, and a cast of colorful characters marches magnificently through the heart of a celebrating city. The grand spectacle brings crowds flocking along beautiful Marion Square and past the historic facades of King and Broad Streets, following the same parade route on which the Marquis de Lafayette was cheered by Charlestonians in 1825, when he made his triumphant return to the city for the first time since offering his service during the Revolutionary War.
