2010: Mount Pleasant wins the All American City award from the National Civic League.  Mt. Pleasant competed against 500 other cities across the United States.  Finalists documented three community projects that have made an impact on the residents of their communities.  Mount Pleasant came home with the prize!

Just across beautiful Charleston Harbor from the historic city,  the  charming town  of Mount Pleasant is a sought-after residential real estate address.  High waterfront bluffs adorned with antebellum homes and towering  oaks offer a town-within-a-town character in Mount Pleasant’s Old Village District.  Grand piazzas and gardens grace quiet, shaded streets and lanes on which the foot or bicycle are more prevalent  than the car tire.  Within a few blocks of any of the stately houses in the old village are panoramic vistas over marsh front, salt creek and estuary,  as sidewalks and bicycle paths lead past quaint fleets of shrimp trawlers and fishing perches overlooking nearby sea islands.

Beyond the old village,  Mt. Pleasant extends through well-planned  neighborhoods to the edge of the Francis Marion National Forest. A variety of desirable properties range from waterfront  homes, lots and town homes along winding, pristine creeks such as Shem Creek,  Hobcaw Creek ,  and Beresford Creek,  the  scenic Wando and Cooper rivers,  and the expansive marshes along a fifteen-mile stretch the intracoastal  waterway.   For the golfer, there are numerous golf course homes along the fairways and greens of the Snee Farm and Charleston National and Dunes West courses.
