NORTH CHARLESTON
OVERVIEW
Incorporated in 1972 as a city of only
21,000, North Charleston is today the third largest city in South
Carolina, and growing fast.
This thriving 60 square-mile municipality is a haven for business
and upscale, planned neighborhood development.
Home to the Charleston International Airport, a 13,500-seat
coliseum, a new convention center, a performing arts center, a
film studio, a major technology center, and future site of the
coveted CSS Hunley submarine museum, North Charleston is where the
action is in coastal South Carolina.
Situated at the confluence of interstate 26 and 526, the city is
at the geographical epicenter of the major metropolitan tri-county
area. It features the area’s major shopping malls, and is home to
both Charleston Southern University and Trident Technical College.
In the city’s former famous Naval Shipyard facility, a new
business-friendly cooperative project has lured some of the
nation’s cutting edge high-tech industries.
Bounded by the historic Ashley and Cooper rivers, North Charleston
has miles of waterfront real estate and planned neighborhoods that
feature dock spaces and golf links.
A city that boasts dynamic growth, excitement and prosperity,
North Charleston offers an appealing commercial or residential
real estate address.
